Version 1 Release Notes. Version 1 of Acmenav is very much a beta version and is consequently freeware. The supplied database files are incomplete and not necessarily up to date or accurate. I do not expect to add to Acmenav's facilities before its proper release in April. The only planned changes are: major bug fixes discovered during beta testing, disabling of the Psion & esc key escape sequence (this has purposely been left enabled for this version), and a completely new and up to date UK database. Version 2 of this software will be the first proper release (April 1993), with version 3 following in about November/December 1993. I hope to have all the improvements listed in appendix C included in version 3, plus any other sensible suggestions that may be made between now and then. I am quite prepared to produce a customised version for US users, as I realise that flying stateside is somewhat different to flying in Europe. Again all sensible suggestions via CIS (Avsig, Atari Productivity, or Psion Palmtop forums) please. Please note that this system is very much based upon my own requirements; therefore I cannot hope to satisfy everybody first time around! What may be glaring omissions to you may well be quite sensible to me! The organisation of the manual is as follows: Section 1 deals with the installation of Acmenav, whilst section 2 contains general information and rules of using Acmenav. The subsequent sections of the manual deal with each of the main menu options in turn: section 3 deals with the slide rule, section 4 with the flight planning system, section 5 with the custom options, and section 6 with the special options. There is a final section of appendices that contain more specific information on ISA and JSA conditions assumed, a shopping list for version 3 and a detailed list of all the files that comprise Acmenav. Thanks in advance to anyone who bothers to down load aand test this software. **Important** Once all your files are de-archived, rename morse.opo to morse$.opo. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, my Atari ST will not allow the $ symbol in file names! **Important** The hot key combination Psion esc can be used in version 1 to get you out of trouble. Although this is a rather draconian technique for exiting Acmenav, it may be needed to extricate you from an unforeseen permanent loop. This facility will be disabled in future versions once the integrity of the error handling routines have been established beyond doubt. Happy flying Mark P Wickens 100113,1502
